PURPOSE: To provide a modulator which can more strongly suppress carrier voltages by respectively coupling the two carrier inputs of two partial modulators with two signal outputs of the modulators and providing a mechanism which performs scalar addition on the 180 deg. phase-shifted modulated carrier voltages of the modulators. CONSTITUTION: In a double modulator 1, two carrier inputs 2' and 2" are connected to the common carrier input of the modulator 1 through a power divider 37 and separated from each other by means of capacitors CK1 ' and CK1 " in DC sense. The carrier input 2 of the modulator 1 is coupled with a signal output 3 by the positive modulating voltage Um at a signal input 4' and a negative modulating voltage Um at another signal input 4" through the electrically short passage 7' of one partial modulator 1" of the modulator 1 and the phase delaying passage 6 and a transformer 11 of the other modulator 1" in accordance with the amplitudes of the modulating voltages Um . Because of the opposite signs of the modulating voltages Um at the signal inputs 4' and 4", the carrier input 2 is connected to the signal output 3 through the phase delaying passage 6' of the partial modulator 1' and the electrically short passage 7' of the partial modulator 1". |
