Method of producing new quaternary derivatives of N, N-dimethylo-N-/3-alkanoylpropyl/amin with general formula 1, where R signifies radical alkyl, containing 10-20 carbon atoms; is characterised in that amine amide with general formula 2, where R has above stated meaning, is subjected to quaternary reaction with alkaline metal salt and 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropano-1-sulfonic acid, the process takes place in aqueous environment at about 100 degrees C till amine amide completes reacting, then, obtained betaine and chlorine of alkaline metal mixture is subjected to drying till complete water evaporation, this is followed by action of boiling ethanol and, after filtering the filtered chlorine sediment while hot, raw betaine is separated after cooling and possibly crystallized from ethanol again.<IMAGE>
