<p>PURPOSE:To enhance an optical coupling efficiency and to enhance an insulating breakdown strength between an input and an output by sealing a semiconductor relay with a ceramic case and a metal cap. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting diode 2 on the input side and a semiconductor element 3 on the output side are placed on a ceramic case 8, and sealed with a metal cap 9 having a curvature. A light emitted from the diode 2 is reflected on the cap 9 to reach a photodetector of the element 3. Since the diode 2 and the element 3 are mounted on different flat surfaces, a short-circuit of the input side and the output side is prevented. Since the input and the output are insulated by an air gap therebetween, an insulating breakdown strength between the input and the output can be enhanced. On the other hand, since light is not absorbed by optical coupling resin and the curvature of the cap 9 can be further formed with high reproducibility, optical coupling efficiency and its fluctuation can be further improved as compared with conventional semiconductor relay.</p> |
