A load carrier is intended to be placed at the rear of a vehicle and has an approximately vertical carrier with an upper portion (10) and side legs (11, 12), and rearwardly directed carrier arms (5) for the load. The upper portion (10) has a pivotal anchorage (17) for a forwardly directed arm (15, 16) with a catch (8) which is intended to grasp about a forward/upper edge of the boot lid of the vehicle. At the bottom, the carrier is provided with engagement means such as pins (21) for insertion in apertures (20) on rearwardly directed flanges (19) on an adapter (3). The adapter is intended to be secured between (behind) the licence plate of the vehicle and the boot lid. A clamping device with two stays (22, 23) and a threaded drawbar (24) connects the arm (15, 16) with the carrier and pivots these towards one another on activation. |
