PURPOSE:To improve yield, by measuring the distance from the end face to a work mark at least three points of the magnetic head piece at the both sides in the alignment direction of the magnetic head piece and that located at the intermediate part and assuming the curve including the three points from the measurement value. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic head piece aggregate 2 is fitted on a jig 1 and the end face of the magnetic head piece aggregate 2 of the opposite side to this fitting face is polished. In this case, the distance from the end face to a work mark is measured at the three points at least of the magnetic head piece at both sides in the alignment direction of magnetic head pieces Q1 - Qn and the magnetic head piece located at the intermediate part and the curve f1 including the three points is assumed from the measurement value. Then, a straight line f2 like making the total sum of the distances of each work mark of the magnetic head pieces Q1 - Qn minimum is found, with respect to this curve f1 and it is polished with the intermediate point on this straight line f2 as the reference. The head piece number obtained from one aggregate 2 is thus increased and the yield can be improved. |
