PURPOSE:To attain the continuous erasing of only a video and only sound by controlling a transfer means so that an erasing means may access plural tracks on which the signal of an assigned kind is recorded continuously when the continuous erasing is commanded. CONSTITUTION:When a selecting switch 14 is operated after the action of an erasing circuit 8E is stopped, a spindle motor 2 is stopped, a system controller 7 goes to a video connecting erasing mode, discrimination whether it is a video track or not is executed to the track with a magnetic head 4 transferred and when it is the video track, the erasing action is executed continuously. In this way, only an video signal is erased over the plural tracks. Next, a selecting switch 14 is operated, it goes to a sound continuing mode, the discrimination whether it is a sound track or not is executed to the track with the magnetic head transferred, when it is the sound track, the erasing action is executed continuously and thus, only a sound signal is erased over the plural tracks.
