PURPOSE:To prevent the burning of a display screen by making it possible to display a part of a high definition television signal on a free displaying part when the high definition television signal is displayed on a standard television display device as well by a time compressing circuit and an output control circuit. CONSTITUTION:The time compression circuit 2 to reduce in point of time the output signal of a scanning line conversion circuit 1 to convert the high definition television signal into a standard television signal is provided. Then, at the time when the high definition television signal different from a high standard television signal in an aspect ratio is outputted to a television output device 6, the signal held in the time compression circuit 2 is outputted to an area where no picture exists generated because of the difference of the aspect ratio as well by the output control circuit 3, and the quantity of an electron beam irradiating a display surface is made nearly uniform. Thus, the burning phenomenon of the display screen can be prevented. |
