The artificial blood vessel is produced by hydrophilic-treating the surface of a polyester fiber-wooven blood vessel by the chemical or physical treating method, and coating the surface with a polysaccharide or its deriv. containing a carboxyl gp. The polysaccharide or its deriv.is pref. cellulose, alginic acid, carboxymethyl alginate, chitin, chitosan or starch. In the chemical treatment, a sulfonic acid treatment is carried out by oxidizing the vessel with a soln. composed of 10-80 % thick sulfuric acid, 10-80 % chromium oxide and 20-80 % distilled water.
