The base drive circuit of a switching transistor (2) includes a feedback wirings (3) connected to the base and emitter of the switching transistor. When the switching transistor is OFF the generating voltage from the ffedback wirings is rectified by diodes (8,6) to be charged on a capacitor (7). An end (7a) of the capacitor is connected to an emitterr of the switching transistor (2), another end being connected to a base of the switching transistor (2) through a transistor (9) and a resistor (10). The base of the transistor (9) is connected to a terminal (36) of the feedback wirings (3) through a resistor (11). The circuit reduces a loss of the base drive and a switching loss of the switching transistor.
