Paper-making woven blanket - has third weft system at the machine side, to increase wear resistance

The woven blanket for a papermaking machine, where the pulp is converted to paper, has a floating weft system on the side in contact with the paper and a further system of floating wefts on the machine side with a third weft system with floating wefts mostly at the machine side. They give a weft section passing over the wefts of the second system to form an additional wearing plane which extends further and outwards. The blanket material is pref. developed in two layers, with the first weft system in the upper layer, and the second and third weft systems in the lower layer (33). The weft sections of the third weft system are longer than those of the second system, and pref. twice as long. The floating wefts of the third system at machine side run over at least 10 warps in succession, while the weft sections of the second system run over less than 10 warps in succession. The wefts of the second system are pref. thinner than those in the third system, and the wefts of the third system are stiffer than those in those in the second system and are more resistant to wear. ADVANTAGE - Gives improved resistance to wear, without affecting working characteristics of the woven material.
