METHOD AND DEVICE FOR TREATING WASTE GAS BY ELECTRON BEAM MULTISTAGE IRRADIATION

PURPOSE:To enhance the irradiation and waste gas treating efficiency by introducing a waste gas contg. sulfur oxides and/or nitrogen oxides into an electron beam irradiation chamber at specified flow velocity and temp. and carrying out multistage electron beam irradiation. CONSTITUTION:A waste gas contg. sulfur oxides and/or nitrogen oxides is introduced into an electron beam irradiation chamber 2 at a flow velocity of <=30m/s and at a temp. higher than the dew point and lower than 100 deg.C. The gas is irradiated with an electron beam in the chamber at 300-3000kV accelerating voltage, NH3 is added before and/or after electron beam irradiation, and the gas is successively passed through each irradiation region 3 while controlling the retention time of the gas in the non-irradiation region 4 between the adjacent electron beam irradiation regions to 0.01-0.5sec. The generated by-product is collected by a dust collector, and then the treated waste gas is discharged into the atmosphere.
