Between the pinion 13, fixed to the control lever 14, and the pinion 10 operating the door 1 is an air spring 12 attached at eccentric points to these two pinions. In the event of an object 25 being caught as the door 1 closes, the air spring 12 allows the door to be secured while applying to it a constant closing force however much it may be ajar. An interlocking bar 22, operated by a pivoting lever 21, is designed to interlock with a degree of play, the door 1 being in the closed position, with a pivoting rocker bar 6 connected to the door 1. The invention is of particular application to the doors of cable cars.
