<p>PURPOSE:To suppress the generation of leak light without requiring the formation of a black matrix by forming conductive thin-film electrodes consisting of Al, etc., on signal lines and gate signal lines. CONSTITUTION:The conductive thin-film electrodes 3 consisting of the Al, etc., are formed on the signal lines and gate signal lines 1 on a TFT substrate 6. The potentials generated in the signal lines and gate signal lines 1 are, therefore, shielded by the electrodes 3 formed on the signal lines and gate signal lines. The Al electrodes 3 are maintained at the same potential as the potential of a common electrode 4 if light does not transmit the liquid crystal display device and the entire part of the screen remains black. The state in which the light does not transmit the parts on the Al electrodes 3 of the liquid crystal display device is attained by impressing pulse voltages to the Al electrodes 3 if the entire part of the screen is white. The need for a black matrix is eliminated in this way and the degradation in image quality by the improper registration of a glass substrate 5 and the TFT substrate 6 at the time of assembling the liquid crystal display device is obviated.</p> |
