PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, composed of a polyolefinic resin, inorganic flame retardant, foaming agent and crosslinking agent and capable of providing foams excellent in flame retardance, flexibility, heat resistance, mechanical and electrical characteristics, heat insulating, cushioning and soundproofing properties. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition composed of (A) 100 pts.wt. polyolefinic resin [preferably ethylene (co)polymer having 0.86-0.94g/cm<3> density, etc.], (D) 30-200 pts.wt., preferably 40-150 pts.wt. inorganic flame retardant (preferably magnesium hydroxide, etc.), (C) 0.1-15 pts.wt., preferably 1.0-10 pts.wt. foaming agent (e.g. ammonium carbonate or 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile) and (D) at most 10 pts.wt., preferably 0.05-5 pts.wt. crosslinking agent (e.g. a hydroperoxide or flower of sulfur). The aforementioned composition is expanded at 1.1-25 times to afford a foam. |
