The bag making arrangement has a driven roller nip including a nip roller (4) and a back up roller (5) by which the web can be fed into and through the machine. Parallel to the rollers (4,5) are elongate cutters (10) which are rotatable about its longitudinal axis and can be moved into engagement with the back up roller for making the perforation lines (12). A welding station (8) has sealing jaws (22) which are displaceable in the direction of travel of the web (7) and make the weld lines as the web is moving. The cutters are separately connectible and disconnectable independently of the operation of the nip roller for optionally setting the spacing of the perforation lines. The welding station is also separately connectible and disconnectable for optionally setting the spacing between the weld lines and the lines of perforation.
