The system to monitor the qulity of the working of a spinning plant has a computer (16) at each produciton stage, linked to a central computer (15). The quality and data for each mfg. step are passed by the computers (16) to the central computer (15) to monitor the yarn quality of the end product and its prodn. The central computer (15) pref. collects the data based on the location of its source and the time of receipt and monitors the passage of material or an intermediate product from one process stage to the next. The data records the destination of all the material, between stages, to determine where and when it was processed. The system also arranges the different bobbin identifications, together with the machine numbers or workstations and batch numbers and the identity of the final working stations to control the action of the doffers, and also send the product data from the local computers (16) to the central computer (15) to be stored together with the mfg. data for the bobbins through their processing stages. ADVANTAGE - Allows the source of a fault in the yarn to be identified for rapid corrective action.
