PURPOSE:To enable the sequential and accurate measurement of a dimension of width by a method wherein a projector is made to project a light just under an object of measurement placed on a moving member, by a timing generator made to operate by a photoelectric switch, and an image on a monitor television is subjected to a counting process. CONSTITUTION:A moving member 1 having through holes 3 formed therein and guiding an object 4 moved at high speed is made to move on rails 2, while an observing member 5 having an image sensor 6 incorporated therein is provided above and connected to a monitor television 7 on which a shading portion of an object is images. Moreover, a projector 19, which is operated by a timing generator 21 connected to a photoelectric switch member 20 so that it projects a light when the moved object 4 comes to a position right above it, is provided below the member 1 and at a position symmetric to the member 5. The frequency of a clock signal corresponding to the dimension of the width of the moved object 4 imaged on the plane of the television 7 is calculated by an arithmetic unit 11, and it is determined by a determination circuit 14 whether the result of calculation is acceptable. When it is not acceptable, the moved object 4 concerned can be removed from a process line. |
