PURPOSE:To obtain a refractory for iron manufacturing in which its manufacturing cost is reduced and manufacturing period is shortened by adding specified alloy powder constituted of chromium and boron to a refractory material, and kneading and forming it by using a binder. CONSTITUTION:This refractory is obtd. by adding 0.5 to 10wt.% powder of <=150mu of an chromium boride alloy constituted of chromium and boron with 1:1 to 1:2 molar ratio with <=10% impurity components, kneading and forming this mixture by using an organic and/or inorganic binder. In the above refractory, excellent results can be obtd. as for corrosion resistance, thermal spalling resistance and structural spalling resistance only by executing hardening treatment at 350 deg.C as compared with the conventional magnesia-chromium series direct bond brick manufactured by executing long time-high temp. firing, so that its manufacturing cost can be reduced as well as its service life can be prolonged. |
