An article, such as a lancet, comprises a body portion (12) and a needle portion (14) tapering to a point (16), said body and needle portions being unitary and moulded of a thermoplastic polymer selected from liquid crystalline polymers, modified acrylic polymers, impact resistant polystyrene polymers, impact resistant polycarbonates, and polyurethanes having a hard segment of about 95% or greater.
