This invention relates to a fancy yarn having a structure wherein a gold or silver foil is wound around the surface of a yarn, a method of its production and an apparatus therefor. In the fancy yarn of this invention, a large number of small metal foil pieces are wound around and fixed onto the yarn surface by an adhesive. This yarn can be produced by applying the adhesive to the yarn fed from a feed bobbin, attaching the foil pieces scattered in the air to that portion of the yarn which is coated with the adhesive while the yarn is stretched in the air, twisting the yarn to which the foil pieces have attached or winding the attached foil pieces around the yarn by generating a swirling air flow around the yarn, and fixing the foil pieces in a wound state onto the surface of the yarn by curing the adhesive. According to this invention, a fancy yarn having excellent surface luster at the foiled portion can be produced easily, and a fancy yarn prepared by winding the foil pieces around a thin yard can be obtained easily, too. An excellent textile having high decorativeness can be obtained by the use of the fancy yarn of the invention as warps or wefts. |
