A tool for forming a flange on the end of a metal pipe 1, which tool incorporates a clamp 2a,2b, to which clamp the pipe 1 which is being machined is fastened, a fastening mandrel 8 which is placed into the pipe and fastened, the mandrel containing a shaft 9, lying in the axial direction of the pipe, to which can be fitted a collar 10 for one or more freely rotating machining ends 11, and which tool incorporates members 18,19,20; 12,13 for rotating the collar around the centre axis of the pipe and moving it in the axial direction of the pipe. The work tool according to the invention is realized such that the member 18,19,20, in order to impart the rotation motion to the collar 10, is at least during the flanging in contact by means of a thrust force with the clamp 2b of the tool, that the said member is in contact, procured by the rotation motion, with the collar 10, and that the member, in order to move the collar and hence the machining ends 11 in the axial direction of the pipe 1 towards the clamp 2a,2b, incorporates a feed member 12,13, which is in contact with the collar. <IMAGE>
