The following are claimed: (A) the use of an o-(triorgano silyloxymethyl) arylcarbonyl gp. (R) as an amino-protecting gp.; (B) reagents for protecting amino gps., comprising activated derivs. of o-(triorganosilyloxymethyl)aryl carboxylic acids; (C) synthons for use in the synthesis of oligonucleotides, polynucleotides or nucleopeptides, contg. at least one gp. of formula (I)-(III).
