The piston ring is applied in engine construction. It is highly efficient. It consists of lamellic rings, among which a spring tangential diluter is placed. It comprises an arched metallic tape with a rectangular section and rounded edges. It has a radius of bending R for the spring elements. The tangential expander has radial shoulders finishing with end supports connected with each other with barriers. The distance t among the neighbouring centres of radiuses for bending the spring elements is carried out in the following proportion: t<4R + 2S, where t is the distance between neighbouring centres of the radius of bending; R - the radius of bending of the spring element; S - the thickness of the tape in the plane of its bending.
