PURPOSE:To view map information on other areas by displaying the map information on other area with scrolling while suspending displaying map information on an area where the current estimated position is displayed and to display a current estimated place superimposing on the map information again. CONSTITUTION:In the main routine of a central processing unit 4, the operation state of a scroll key 5A is detected first. Then an interruption is initiated, the current position of the vehicle is estimated according to data from an azimuth sensor 2 and a distance sensor 3 and matched with a road of map information from an external storage device 6, and the current position of the vehicle is displayed on a display device 5 while superimposed on the map display information. Then the operation state of the scroll key 5A is detected at proper intervals. In a subroutine, the input state of the key 5A is checked first, the map information on the area wherein the current position of the vehicle is present is released from being displayed according to the result, and map information on another area is displayed according to the movement operation of the key 5A. Then when the input of the key 5A is reset, the process returns to the main routine. |
