Treating stress-induced regulation disorders - by exposing patient to additional stress and then administering drug e.g. substance P or butiroxan

Treatment of stress-induced dysregulation involves performing a stress-inducing manipulation and then administering a therapeutic agent. The agent (e.g. neuropeptide substance P (SP) or the alpha,beta-adenoblocker butiroxan (BR)) is administered during the body's reaction to the manipulation. USE/ADVANTAGE - This method (the so-called 'stress+drug' or SD method) can be used to improve the effectiveness of various pharmaceuticals, to improve stress resistance and for treating and preventing essential hypertonia, sleep disorders, psychoneural diseases, alcohol dependency and vegetative dystonia. It can also be used in veterinary medicine. In an example, male rhesus monkeys with hypertonia were exposed to stress (Hunting immobilisation) for three hrs. During this exposure, they were i.v. administered with SP or BR. The monkeys underwent a 25% reduction in blood pressure.
