PURPOSE:To obtain the subject activated carbon having high absorptivity, high adsorption and desorption speed and good handling property, etc., by preparing a spinning pitch from tar pitch, melt-spinning the spinning pitch, infusibilizing, preliminarily carbonizing and spheroidizing the product and subjecting to activation treatment. CONSTITUTION:Pitch for spinning is prepared by using tar pitch as a raw material. The spinning pitch is subjected to melt-spinning and then infusibilized in an oxidizing atmosphere. The product is preliminarily carbonized in an inert atmosphere preferably at 500-700 deg.C, the carbonized fiber is spheroidized and finally activated to obtain the objective activated carbon. |
