Generation monitor system for customizing a data communication network.

The generation monitor system provides a menu-driven facility for customizing to non-SNA traffic, the software facilities enabling an SNA-based network to monitor and control traffic to and from DTE's attached to said network through at least one network node. The system includes prestored macro-skeleton facilities, means for inputting network component parameters on a request basis, means for cross-checking parameters coherence. The provided parameters and macro-skeletons are used to derive macro-statements, which once compiled, provide the required traffic monitoring and controlling software facilities.
