PURPOSE:To form the optical waveguide array having the optical waveguide characteristic equv. to the optical waveguide characteristic of an optical fiber with a simple stage by packing a material having a 2nd refractive index into the spacings formed of a cover member and a substrate having many grooves. CONSTITUTION:A base 3 having the many grooves 8 is formed by injection molding of a polycarbonate resin 3a. Clads 5a, 5b having the refractive index n1 are formed respectively on the base 3 side and cover 4 side when the base 3 and a cover 4 made of polycarbonate are immersed into a resin soln. of vinylidene fluoride, acryl fluoride, etc., and are cured with UV after pulling up. The basic form having hollow channels 6 is formed by the adhesive strength of both of the clad 5a on the base 3 side and the clad 5b on the cover 4 side when the base 3 and the cover 4 in this state are superposed on each other and a pressure is applied thereon from above and below. Further, the one end of this basic form is immersed into the methacrylic resin having the refractive index n2 and the other end is evacuated to a vacuum. The cores 7 consisting of the methacrylic resin are then packed into the hollow channels 6 and the optical waveguide array 1 is completed. |
