PURPOSE:To prepare a BN-SiC composite sintered product having excellent corrosion resistance against molten metals, high temperature strength, abrasion resistance, thermal impact resistance, sliding property, etc., by containing boron nitride, silicon carbide and carbon in specific amounts, etc. CONSTITUTION:SiC powder, BN powder and carbon are mixed with each other as essential components in a prescribed ratio, molded and sintered to provide BN-SiC composite sintered product containing 20-40wt.% of the boron nitride, 80-60wt.% of the silicon carbide and the carbon in an extreme of <=10wt.%. The prepared composite sintered product can be applied to a wide range of applications such as protecting tubes for molten metals, containers for calcination and mechanical seals. Aluminum nitride, boron carbide, etc., except the carbon may be added in amounts of approximately 1-2wt.%, respectively, as sintering auxiliaries and are useful for preventing the dissolution damage of ovens because of having no wettability to the molten metals. |
