PURPOSE:To obtain a useful beverage capable of preventing carcinogenesis by incorporating a beverage composition with limonin, obacunone, nomilin and/or deacetylnomilin. CONSTITUTION:The objective beverage composition incorporated with, as active ingredient(s), at least one of limonin, obacunone, nomilin and deacetylnomilin. These components are present in all parts of citrus fruits such as skin, flesh and seeds, being the most abundantly distributed in the seeds; therefore, it is preferable that the seeds be used for obtaining these components in view of their extraction efficiency. For the extraction, an organic solvent, water-contg. organic solvent or water is added to Phellodendron amurense RUPRECHT and sufficient extraction treatment is made at room temperature or under heating followed by filtering extraction residue off and then distilling the solvent off the filtrate or concentrating said filtrate. The content of limonin, obacunone, nomilin and/or deacetylnomilin in the final beverage composition is normally pref. >=0.05wt.%. |
