This apparatus is composed of a box 1, manufactured from any material which is non-transparent to light radiation, serving as the body of the system and inside which are fixed a camera 2, a semi-transparent mirror 3 and a direct light source 4 illuminating, with a unidirectional light beam 7 passing through a diffuser 8, the characters etched on a semiconductor substrate 9. Given that the surface area of the unidirectional light beam covers at best the area of the etched characters, the image obtained offers the highest possible contrast, the result being that the image may be sent directly via the camera 2 to a specific computer which will be able to process it digitally. <IMAGE>
