The invention relates to monoclonal antibodies specific for the bacterium Clavibacter michiganense pathovar michiganense. The monoclonal antibodies of the invention are characterised in that they exhibit one of the following recognition profiles: I') A+; B+; C+; D+; II) A+; B-; C-; D+; III) A+; B+; C-; D-; these profiles being determined with respect to the following bacterial isolates: A: isolate "14" (C.N.C.M. I-904) B: isolate "1496" (NCPPB 1496) C: isolate "170" (NCPPB 170) D: isolate "16" (C.N.C.M. I-903), each of these isolates representing one of the several immunological types existing among the different isolates of Clavibacter michiganense pathovar michiganense, and being capable of being replaced or supplemented by one or more isolates exhibiting the same immunological type.
