摘要 Seen in plan view, the milling unit (7) fits into one of the tooling bores (6) pitched round the indexing tool turret plate of an NC lathe. The milling unit is driven through the tooling bore by a clutched drive located in the turret housing (3). The milling spindle and drive are able to traverse a distance of about 20 mm in the direction y, thus allowing milling across the work axis. The cross-traverse drive (46) is fitted into the adjacent tooling bore and is again driven through the bore. USE/ADVANTAGE - The complication and expense of an additional positioning axis on the machine is avoided by providing a traverse movement on the milling unit. System can readily be fitted to existing machines.
