A water heater for a central heating system has a combustion chamber (3) with access (7) for fuel, and an outlet for acid bearing gas, a heat exchanger (11), a burner (8), and a flue for exhaust gas (18). Between the combustion chamber (3) and the flue (18) there is a channel (23) which enters the flue (18) horizontally and bent to the vertical inside the flue (18) in order to conduct hot gases in the same direction as exhaust gas. USE/ADVANTAGE - Inhibits the production of condensation both in the flue and in the chimney.
