<p>A system for locating mobile stations (15) in a distributed signalling network (10) is described. Each mobile unit (15) is provided with an operator's unit (32) having a display (45) and a keypad (50). The display (45) presents a number of identifiers corresponding to suburbs within the operating area of the network (10) which are readily recognisable. The keypad (50) allows a sequential choosing of adjacent identifier to be placed in the cursor field (47) so as to select one identifier corresponding to the actual or intended location of the mobile station (15). Operation of the keypad (50) will then cause that corresponding location to be transmitted to a regional control centre (20-28), and thereafter to a central controller (29).</p> |
