The container for collecting papers and magazines is designed as a folded carton having four side walls and base running at a distance from the underneath of the container so that a storage area is provided between the underneath and base. The container has underneath a further base (50) while the base spaced underneath is an intermediate base (70) which can be removed from its ideal position. The base (50) has a support cross structure (60) which in turn supports the intermediate base (70) at a distance from the base (50) and at the same time defines the string reel storage area (80,82) between the base (50) and intermediate base (70). The support structure (60) can be placed loosely on the additional base (50). USE/ADVANTAGE - The container can be produced cost-effectively from cardboard yet is sufficiently stable through the support structure.
