Automatic feeding of sealing rings onto pipe sockets - in which seal holder automatically drops and pushes seals onto sockets through separate stop and holding rings

A process is described for feeding an elastomeric ring onto a rigid pipe socket. The seating ring (7,7') and ring shells (8,8') form a single sealing unit (4,4') and are stored on top of each other in large numbers in a holder (1). Feeding of the sealing units (4,4') onto the socket shell (13) is automatic and results from the programmed opening and closing of a holding ring (10) and a stop ring (12). USE/ADVANTAGE - For production line application of seals to rigid pipe sockets. Automatic operation eliminates the cost of manual feeding.
