<p>An organic electroluminescent device having an organic hole injection transport layer and an organic luminescent layer formed between two conductive layers constituting electrodes, wherein the organic luminescent layer contains a compound selected from the group consisting of a compound of the following formula (I): <CHEM> wherein each of A/ &cir& and B/ &cir& is an aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, C/ &cir& is a nitrogen atom which may have a substituent, a sulfur atom, an oxygen atom, or a selenium atom, and D/ &cir& is a nitrogen atom, or a carbon atom which may have a substituent; a compound of the following formula (II): <CHEM> wherein each of E/ &cir& , F/ &cir& , G/ &cir& and H/ &cir& is an aromatic hydrocarbon group which may have a substituent, I/ &cir& is a nitrogen atom which may have a substituent, a sulfur atom, an oxygen atom, or a selenium atom, and J/ &cir& is a hydrogen atom, a cyano group, an amide group, an ester group, an alkyl group, a carboxyl group, an aromatic hydrocarbon group which may be substituted, or an aromatic heterocyclic group which may be substituted; and a compound having at least one group selected from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbon cyclic groups and aromatic heterocyclics groups, bonded directly, or via other group, to a naphthyridine skeleton of the following formula: <CHEM> a</p> |
