The clock incorporates upper and lower weights, the upper exerting upward forces on three vanes, the first of which weighs 10 kg, the second 1.4 kgs., and the third 1.9 kgs. As an alternative, ball bearing balls 11 and 13 mm in dia. are used to act on the first vane. The upper wt. is at the side of a large wheel in the centre of the clock, and the lower wt. is on the oppositea side. It is also possible to increase the dias. of the ball bearing balls to 22 and 26 mm., with the wts. of the second and third vanes doubled to 2.8 kgs., and 3.8 kgs. Further increasing of the ball bearing balls dias. to 88 and 104 mm., with the first vane weighing 320 kgs. can be envisaged. - Pendulum arms are incorporated and protective covers which guide the balls to act on the vanes in the correct position and sequence. A double-crossed and lever arrangement raises the balls to their commencement position, and is connected via shafts to gearwheels. Short gearwheel crowns connect the large central wheel to large and small lever wheels, whilst long such crowns extend from the small lever wheel to a chain wheel at the base of the clock. A satellite wheel, smaller in dia. than the central wheel is in peripheral engagement with the central wheel. (Provisional basic advised week 9106) (16pp Dwg.No.1/5) |
