The present invention contributes to solving the problem of breakage of the material web in wet-press and drying machines for pulp or paper. The invention consists in a method of controlling a wet-press and drying machine in the production of a continuous web of pulp or paper, the material web being advanced at least in part by means of a tension arrangement at the end while the tension FB in the web is measured and recorded. The method is characterized in that, in combination, one edge portion or both edge portions of the material web is/are removed some time before end drying forming edge strip(s), all or part of at least one edge strip is made to pass through a roller-pair nip coupled to a measurement arrangement for tension, the edge strip is, by means of the roller pair, subjected to tension FK preferably greater than the tension measured in the material web being advanced, said tension FK is measured and recorded, and the ratio between the two tensions FK and FB is used as a basis for the operation of the wet-press and drying machine. <IMAGE> |
