A tubular bulb (1) is modified to suit a low-voltae garden lamp by adding two lateral support tubes (2). These are attached by soldering their centres to the bulb's end caps. The assembly is secured in one end of a cylindrical translucency by passing hollow rivets through the tubes via holes in the translucency sides. These are then expanded at their ends to keep them in place, graphite grease between rivets and tubes enhancing their electrical contact. The lower end of the translucency is cut away (7) at an angle so that it can be driven into the ground wherever required. Connections are made by leads with plug terminations which fit into the rivets and supply power besides allowing other units to be paralleled when necessary. ADVANTAGE - Lamp design simplifies installation and connection, ise self-supporting and is well ventilated, and can easily accept supplementary reflector is required. |
