A silver halide photographic emulsion containing silver halide grains having (III) faces, at least 50% (by projected area) of which are (a) silver halide grains controlled so that the development thereof is initiated at the corners or in the vicinity of the corners of the grains, and/or (b) silver halide grains controlled so that the development thereof is initiated at the edges or in the vicinity of the edges of the grains.
