PURPOSE:To obtain an azo lake thickening or gellation of which is improved when it is need for a printing ink by preparing an azo lake pigment by incorporating an N-hydroxyethyl-N,N,N-alkyl ammonium salt. CONSTITUTION:When an azo lake pigment is prepd., an N-hydroxyethyl-N,N,N- alkyl ammonium salt of formula is incorporated. In the formula, R1, R2 and R3 are a 1-30C alkyl, alkylamide or hydroxyethyl; X is a halogen atom, a sulfonic acid group or a carboxyl. Amt. of loading of said N-hydroxyethyl-N,N,N-alkyl ammonium salt is 0.1-30 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. obtd. azo lake pigment. By this method of preparation, the obtd. azo lake pigment exhibits excellent transparency and clarity caused by the treating functionality of the salt of formula and a long life properties with no such phenomenon as thickening or gellation are provided. |
