PURPOSE:To obtain an antimicrobial agent consisting of 3-isothiazolone compound and 4,5-dichloro-1,2-dithiol-3-one and having excellent low toxicity and having wide application range to harmful microorganisms such as filamentous fungus, bacterium and yeast and usable for industrial water. CONSTITUTION:The aimed antimicrobial agent containing a compound expressed by formula I (R<1> is H or halogen; R<2> is H or alkyl) and compound expressed by formula II at a weight ratio of 1:5-5:1 and usable for industrial water in paper pulp industry, cooling water for various industries. The compound expressed by formula I exhibits excellent antimicrobial effect when used in a form of free compound rather than complex salt. The above-mentioned antimicrobial agent is prepared by uniformly mixing the two components and used in the form of water solution, solvent solution, emulsion, etc. The addition amount is 0.1-100ppm in case of industrial water for paper pulp industry, etc. and 1-500ppm in case of field of aqueous paint, paste, leather, etc. |
