FRICTION ELEMENT OF A FRICTION PAIR

A friction element of a friction pair comprises a three-dimensional carcass (1) located in a matrix (2) within the zone of a friction surface (4). The carcass is made of a wear-resistant material, whereas the matrix (2) is made of a material with a high coefficent of thermal conductivity. The carcass (1) has a cellular structure consisting of honeycombs, corrugated strip or the like. The carcass (1) partially projects above the surface of the matrix (2) and forms, together with the latter, a friction surface (4) with a regular microrelief. The surface area of the carcass (1), projecting above the matrix (2) proportionally decreases in the direction from the zone of its maximum workload to the zone of minimum workload. The invention may be used in brake devices, in particular, in brake disks for light vehicles, clutch plates and the like.
