The panel assembly has at least one, and pref. two, vertical side support profiles (1,2) which are spaced apart by a predetermined distance. Lower (3) and upper (4) transverse support bars are detachably connected between the vertical profiles to form a rectangular frame. The vertical profiles are configured such that lateral grooves (16) are arranged to face each other and receive between them the panels (5-8) of the assembly. The grooves are defined between lateral wings (11,12) of the profiles. The panels are interlocked and supported by the lower transverse bar.
