PURPOSE:To provide the screen plate making for screen printing with good printing resistance and good reproducibility by subjecting at least one of photosensitive surfaces or the plate films formed by developing the photosensitive surfaces to a smoothing treatment to press the same to a smoothing member having the smooth plane. CONSTITUTION:A screen gauze made of polyester is extended on a screen frame. A diazo photosensitive liquid obtd. by mixing a diazo resin and emulsion is applied on the screen gauze. The printing surface side of the photosensitive film 10a is brought into tight contact with a film 16 having the smooth surface while the photosensitive liquid applied in the coating stage of the photosensitive liquid is still wet. While the film 16 is held stuck to the photosensitive film 10a, the film is dried for about one hour by hot air and is then allowed to naturally dry. A positive film is brought into tight contact with the photosensitive surface of the screen gauze with which the smoothing treatment stage ends and after the surface is exposed, the film is developed to obtain the plate for screen printing. The printing surface side of the plate film 10b produced in such a manner is smooth and, therefore, side edges 10c, 10d through which ink passes adhere tightly and well to the object to be printed and the blurring is decreased at the time of screen printing.
