The invention relates to a process for the preparation of novel 3H,5H-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines, which are used for the therapy of cardiovascular disorders. According to the invention, the hydriodides of 1,4-dihydro-1-acylamino-2-methylthiopyrimidines are reacted with ammonia or amines in the form of their ammonium acetates in glacial acetic acid in a 1-pot reaction and 3H,5H-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines are obtained by elimination of methanethiol and water.
