A method of controlling an injection moulding machine comprising a moulding apparatus and an injection apparatus, the latter comprising a heating cylinder for the resin to be injected having a nozzle portion, the heating cylinder and the nozzle portion previous to an injection operation being moved towards the moulding apparatus under speed control of said movement, the speed control being then switched over to a pressure control, characterised in that the switching over to the pressure control takes place when after collision of the nozzle portion with the moulding apparatus, the measured pressure of the nozzle portion, which then increases, reaches a predetermined pressure.
