Small box for transporting flat objects, particularly letter envelopes or the like, comprising a body of generally parallelepipedal shape, with a rectangular bottom 2 and, along its four sides, two large sides 5, 6 and two small sides 3, 4 respectively, substantially vertical lateral walls extending at the periphery of the bottom and delimiting with the latter a volume which is open at the top, containing a group of envelopes 7 arranged in a stack on the bottom and applied against at least one of the lateral walls. According to the invention, this small box is characterised in that comprises a plurality of longitudinal slots 9, spaced apart and distributed in the bottom, for the passage of lifting push-rods 10, moving perpendicularly to the bottom and capable of raising the envelopes resting thereon, and means of receiving at least one interposed element 8, parallel with one of the small sides and supported by the upper edges of the large sides, this element being applied against the stack of envelopes in order to keep it resting against that small side. <IMAGE>
